Flax' Litter
![]() |
We are awaiting a litter from our lovely young star Flax who has been mated to our gentle and placid young man Peugeot.
Flax is a kind, gentle soul with an insatiable appetite for affection, she is a supremely biddable "hot" worker who is crowned by a gorgeous head, boasts superb conformation and posesses outstanding all round quality. Flax is an attention seeker who devotes her time to soliciting adoration from any person she can captivate, which is anyone with a heart softer than stone! Flax' softness and warmth at home belies her powerful drive, eagerness and enthusiasm for work and play.
The Sire of Thamesis' litter is our charming and very relaxed dog, Peugeot (Mastamariner Nimrod). Peugeot is very laid back, people oriented and wonderfully keen to please, he passed out top of his puppy class and has passed his Gold Kennel Club Good Citizen Dog Scheme test. Peugeot likes to keep busy, in addition to being Mummy's Little Angel at home he also has a very important job working for Training 4 dogs, in this capacity Peugeot is responsible for working with temperamentally challenged dogs and for carrying out character and behavioural assessments for Training 4 Dogs and for the Kennel Club Good Citizen Dog Scheme. |

This will be Flax' first litter and we expect the puppies to have the same very gentle, loving, outgoing nature and eager, willing attitude as their parents and to share their parent's outstanding all round temperaments and exceptional intelligence, all this together with their mother's eagerness to please and their father's sense of humour. It is a tall order but one we expect to see realised. Colours are likely to range from mid to rich gold. Both Severus and Flax have outstanding training apptitude and we anticipate the puppies will be equally responsive to kind, consistent and gentle tuition.
Flax is a daughter of our gorgeous Thamesis who generously passed on her many qualities to her daughter, the finest of these are her kindness followed by her patience, charm and relaxed, tolerant attitude. Thamesis is a wonderful mother and a perfect companion that has never uttered a cross word to anyone and lives to please and be praised with kind words and hugs.
Peugeot's mother is our beloved Pagan, bombproof, soft as butter, gentle as a lamb and with a sense of humour that borders on the wicked! Pagan charms all our visitors and converts the dog fearers into her worshipers, she loves everyone and will not give up until everyone learn to love her too. Very biddable, Pagan is a couch potato at home a joy and ambassador on walks and a maniac on the agility course where her keen intellect and boundless enthusiasm set her competing with the best of the collies.
Pagan's mother Magic (Murprila Magic Moments of Mastamariner) is one of our exceptional elders, at 12 years old. Magic has a temperament beyond compare and has long subscribed to the maxim that it is easier to seek forgiveness than approval! She has passed on her bombproof character, her loving and forgiving temperament and her exceptional sense of humour to her children. Magic's main occupation is managing the comings and goings of interesting things in the kitchen, her titles include devourer of apple cores, govenor of the dishwasher, mistress of the sink and principal blocker of the rayburn.
Primrose is our eldest elder, at nearly 14 years old she is still fit, well and seeking attention from anyone who can be press ganged into lavishing endless hugs and cuddles on her. Primrose is Isis' mother and a huge contributor to our generations of gentle companions and eager willing workers.
As with all our litters we
breed for temperament first, coupled with health, excellent conformation
and the true old fashioned Golden Retriever character. This is a litter
planned with temperament, character, working ability and old fashioned
breed type in mind.
We confidently expect happy, willing, gentle, sociable, utterly dependable and very people oriented puppies with excellent conformation and character.

Please note that; We are not commercial breeders, we care very deeply about the homes in which our puppies will live. Before enquiring about puppies please read the conditions on the puppy page of our web site very carefully, we are very choosy about the homes in which we place our puppies.
We only allow
our puppies to go to loving, permanent homes with daytime company
and lots of fun and affection. We only consider homes where children
are older (at least 12 years or above) so that there will be time
to be dedicated to the care and nurturing of a new family member and
where a puppy will valued for as an individual.
We favour homes that have previous experience of dog ownership and who understand the time and commitment needed to fullfill the expectations and needs of a young dog.
Please note that we do not sell puppies as potential show, working or breeding "stock" and all our puppies are registered with breeding and export restrictions to protect them, we do not make exceptions to this rule and do not undertake to lift these restrictions.
Flax and Severus both have excellent hip scores, each being less than half the breed average (breed average is 19 in total and the lower the score the better); Sire (Severus) hips 5:3=8,
Both parents carry current clear eye certificates for HC, CPRA, GPRA, MRD, all that is tested for in the Golden Retriever. Severus and Flax were both litter screened (eye tested as pups together with

Flax will be wormed daily with 5ml of Panacur from the 39th day of her pregnancy and will continued to be wormed at this dose until the puppies have completed their first worming at 2 weeks of age. The puppies will be wormed at 2, 4 and 6 weeks of age, a programme that is formulated to ensure that the puppies are born free of worm infestation and remain so throughout their infant lives. We provide a Worming Certificate detailing each puppy's worming history and recommend an ongoing worming programme to enable new puppy owners to keep their companions worm free for life. ![]() Hips When considering a puppy from a breed such as the Golden Retriever which is susceptible to hip dysplasia, prospective owners should seek a puppy from parents each of whose total hip score is below the average total hip score for the breed. Such selection does not eliminate the possibility of hip dysplasia developing in a puppy or adult dog but may significantly reduce the chances of the dog developing hip dysplasia. The breed average for Golden Retrievers is 18, in total, for both hips, i.e, left hip score + right hip score = 18.
Golden Retrievers are susceptible to a number of eye diseases and abnormalities some of which may affect sight and some of which may be inherited. It is never possible to guarantee that puppies will not suffer from eye problems because although their parents may have been regularly tested some problems only appear later in life (late onset) and may not be apparent until a dog or bitch has produced many offspring. Some eye conditions are inherited recessively which means that although both parents may test clear of a particular condition those same parents may carry the potential to produce eye problems in their progeny. Both Flax and Severus have been eye tested and are unaffected by all the conditions currently thought to produce inherited eye problems in the Golden Retriever.
Please note; Although the information above is accurate and true to the best of our knowledge and reflects current thinking on health matters, we are breeders and as such not qualified to offer advice on health issues. The appropriate person to advise you on health issues affecting dogs is your veterinary surgeon. We require all prospective owners to consult a veterinary surgeon regarding potential health issues in the golden retriever before considering ownership of any puppy we breed.
